Ross, Andrew
Variant namesAndrew Ross was born in 1814, son of Robert Ross and nephew of the Arctic explorer, John Ross. He was educated at Glasgow University and, in 1832, was appointed a bookkeeper in the counting house of a Glasgow firm. Between 1834 and 1835, he assisted John Ross with the preparation of the narrative of the British Northwest Passage Expedition, 1829-1833, and he computed the meteorological tables for the Appendix.
