• 1941: Received doctor of medicine degree, University of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland Came to the United States
• 1941 - 1943 : Research fellow, intern in pathology, Yale Medical School and New Haven Hospital, New Haven, Conn.
• 1943 - 1944 : Served as neutral Swiss member of the Red Cross Mixed Medical Commisssion in the United States
• 1943 - 1945 : Intern in medicine and research fellow in medicine, Harvard Medical School and Thorndike Memorial Laboratory, Boston City Hospital, Mass.
