Cornwell, Dean, 1892-1960
Variant namesMuralist, painter, illustrator. Cornwell was born in Louisville, Ky. in 1892. He attended the Chicago Art Institute and began his career as a newspaper and magazine illustrator. He painted murals for the lobby of the Eastern Airlines Building at Rockefeller Plaza, the Hotel Warwick's Raleigh Room, and the Los Angeles Public Library. He is also well known for his painting of WWII correspondent Ernie Pyle.
