Bryton Barron was born in Doon, Iowa, in 1898, and educated at Sioux Falls College, Sioux Falls, S.D., and at Oxford University. In 1923 he became editorial writer for the Sioux Falls Argus Leader. From 1925 to 1928 Barron taught at Abra High School, Bangued, Abra, Philippine Islands, and served as Chief of the Philippine Bureau of Education, Manila, Division of Publications. In 1929 he joined the U.S. State Dept. as assistant editor, became head of the Treaty Section, and finally research historian. He left the State Dept. in 1956, and began lecturing and writing about the State Dept. and U.S. foreign policy generally. Barron held various degrees of relationship with many conservative groups; in 1960-1961 her served as the John Birch Society's coordinator for the state of Virginia. In 1962 he founded Crestwood Books as a publishing vehicle for his books and those of other conservative authors. Bryton Barron was married to Ella Lillibridge Barron, with whom he co-wrote The inhumanity of urban renewal.

From 1925 to 1928 he was a teacher in Abra High School, Bangued, Abra, Philippine Islands, and then editor for the Philippine Bureau of Education, Manila.

In 1929 he joined the State Department as assistant editor, became chief of the Treaty Section, and finally research historian. He left the State Department in 1956, and commenced lecturing and writing critically about the department and United States foreign policy generally.

Barron founded a publishing company, Crestwood Books, in 1962, as a publishing vehicle for his and similar books. In 1960-1961 he was coordinator in Virginia for the John Birch Society, and held various degrees of relationship with other conservative groups.
