John William Leonard (1890-1974) was a 1915 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He was an officer in the 6th U.S. Infantry Regiment from 1917 to 1920, and an officer in the 15th U.S. Infantry Regiment, stationed in China from 1933 to 1936. He was the Commanding General of the 9th U.S. Armored Division from 1942 to 1945.
