Horton, H. H. (Harry Harthley), 1889-1959.

Horton (1889-1959) was born in New York and graduated from the National College of Chiropractic in 1915. He moved to Laramie, Wyoming to open a medical office and enlisted in the U.S. Army's 148th Field Artillery unit during World War I. The unit was composed of members of the Wyoming National Guard and Horton was decorated with the Distinguished Silver Star for gallantry while trying to rescue two wounded members of his unit.

Horton returned to Laramie after the war and was married to Marie Montabe in 1927. He served as an Albany County, Wyoming state senator from 1926-1941 as a Republican. Horton was active in civil and veteran's affairs and helped to form the Laramie VFW Post Number 2221 in 1931.

Harry Harthley Horton (1889-1959) was born in New York and graduated from the National College of Chiropractic and Drugless Physicians in Chicago in 1915. He moved to Laramie, Wyoming, the same year to open a medical office. Horton enlisted in the U.S. Army’s 148th Field Artillery during World War I as a member of the medical unit. On October 11 or 12, 1918, he was severely wounded by shell fire which struck his aid station, much of the lower part of his face being torn away. He was hospitalized until 1921 and underwent twenty-two major operations. In 1935 he received the Distinguished Service Cross.

Horton returned to Laramie after the war to resume his medical practice. He married Marie Montabe in 1927. From 1926 to 1941, he served in the Wyoming State Senate as a Republican, and he was active in civil and veteran’s affairs and helped to form the Laramie VFW Post Number 2221 in 1931. During World War II, Horton and his wife recruited in Albany County for the United States Women’s Army Corps. H.H. Horton retired from medical practice in 1946.
