Slaves on the Dogue Run Farm-1799, Compiled by Mary V. Thompson, 1992—April 4, 1997; Additions made, April 8, 2003—September 24, 2018; There were 45 slaves living on Dogue Run Farm in the last year of George Washington's life, 27 of whom belonged to George Washington, with the remaining 18 being dower slaves from the estate of his wife’s first husband. There appear to have been 8 family groups, which took in all 21 of the children and all but 4 of the adults aged 11 and over, who could not, at this point, be linked to anyone else at the farm. Of the 24 adults, 4 couples were able to live together at Dogue Run, while another 6 individuals were married to people living elsewhere. Twenty of the twenty-four adults (83.33%) had been living at Dogue Run since 1786.
