REEVE, Benjamin, 1737-
b. Sept 2, 1737 near Greenwich, NJ.
Father died when B.R. was quite young, He was apprenticed to a man in Phila., Pa.
Returned to Greenwich to live and was recognized as a minister, He was well known as a peacemaker. He visited most of the meetings of Friends in America. He also visited families.

Whereas Benjamin Reeve of the City of Philadelphia in the province of Pennsylvania and Ruth Brick of the Townships of Hopewell in the County of Cumberland of province of New Jersey having declared their intentions of marriage with each other before several monthly meetings... on the twenty-eighth day of the tenth month one thousand seven hundred and sixty one...

Our Friend Benjamin Reeve requesting a certificate for himself and Ruth his wife, being returned to reside among you. These are therefore to certify on their behalf that the usual inquiry hath been made of it appears that they have been of a sober and orderly life and conversation during their residence among us, and frequently attended our religious meetings, and settled their temporal affairs to satisfaction as far as we know. We recommend them to divine protections and your Christian oversight, desiring their growth in the truth, and subscribe ourselves your Friends...

Benjamin Reeve departed this life the 24th of 5th month 1801 in the 64th year of his age.
