Julius Forstmann founded the Forstmann & Huffmann Company in Passaic, New Jersey in the early 1900s. By 1931, the company's name was changed to the Forstmann Woolen Company. Forstmann designed his own fabrics, founded the National Quality Maintenance League, and was a sponsor of the "Truth-in-Fabrics" bill passed by the Congress in 1940.
