William Henry Matchett is a poet and Emeritus Professor of Literature at the University of Washington. Born in 1923 in Chicago, IL, Matchett earmed a B.A. (1949) from Swarthmore College, and an M.A. (1950) and PhD. (1957) from Harvard University. He began teaching at the University of Washington in Seattle in 1954, and was appointed a full professor in 1966.
