Oscar Woolverton Griswold (b. Oct. 22, 1886-Sept. 28, 1959) was born in Ruby Valley, Nevada. He received his commission in the infantry from West Point in 1910, and advanced to the rank of brigadier general in October 1940. He was commanding general of the 4th U.S. Division from 1945 until his retirement in October 1947.
