Susan Ertz (1894-1985), British author.

Susan Ertz was born in Surrey, England, to Americans Charles and Mary Ertz. During her childhood she lived in both the US and England, but chose to stay in England when she turned 18. She married a British Army officer, John McCriddle in 1932. She wrote around 20 novels, many of them dealing with a female lead character who tries to understand a hostile world. One of her more well known books (and also the one the letter deals with) is entitled The Proselyte and deals with an English woman marrying a Mormon missionary and moving to Utah with him. She died 11 April 1985.
