Sophia Fund (Chicago, Ill.)
Biographical notes:
The Sophia Fund was founded in 1983 by Lucia Woods Lindley and merged after 1991 into Chicago Foundation for Women (for Chicago-area needs) and into the MS. Foundation, to address national concerns. The Sophia Fund worked under the assumption that discrimination against one segment of society was detrimental to society as a whole, and it awarded funds to organizations that helped fight discrimination against women. Sonia Fischer (Sunny Fischer) was director.
