Biographical notes:

Margaret Stephenson Roberts, suffragist and librarian, was the daughter of George H. Roberts, the first attorney general of Idaho. In 1905, she was appointed librarian for the Idaho Traveling Library and was responsible for distributing books to every corner of the state. She retired in 1933, but returned to work in 1947, holding the post until her death on May 24, 1952.

MSR was also active in the woman suffrage movement and the state Republican Party. In 1916 and for several terms thereafter she served as the Republican National Committeewoman for Idaho. She served as vice president of the National Council of Women Voters, and as chairman of Idaho for the National League of Women Voters, resigning from that post in 1920. She was active in promoting social legislation and in club work, serving as president of the Boise Columbian Club.
