Biographical notes:

Sukey Bay was an enslaved field worker, owned by George Washington. She worked at Mount Vernon’s River Farm, and was emancipated by George Washington’s will. She had a daughter, Rose Carter, who was also a field worker at Mount Vernon's River Farm.
