Lucy Lippard (born 1937 in New York City) is an American art critic and curator. An early champion of conceptual art, feminist artists, and artists of color, Lippard has authored numerous books on art and art theory. She was a founder of several feminist art organizations including WEB, The Women's Art Registry, and Heresies: A Feminist Publication on Art and Politics .
