Biographical notes:

Newton Augustus Morris was born in 1869. In 1891, Morris was charged with attempted murder and cattle rustling in California. Two years later, he graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law. Morris served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1898 to 1904, during which time he was speaker pro tem (1900-1901) and speaker (1902-1904). He served as superior court judge of the Blue Ridge Circuit, which included Cobb County, from 1909 to 1912 and 1917 to 1919. He was also a property developer and contractor. Morris was allegedly one of the leaders behind the lynching of Leo Frank in 1915. N.A. Morris died on 22 September 1941 in Cobb County, Georgia.
