Herbert Brownell, Jr. (1904-1996) served as United States Attorney General under President Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1953 to 1958. His establishment of a Civil Rights division within the Justice Department was a Republican party operative. He was a legal advisor to President Eisenhower on the Little Rock Central High School desegregation crisis.
