Biographical notes:

Louis C. Hunter was one of the leading economic and technological historians of his generation, particularly noted for his work on western river steamboats, iron manufacture and industrial power. The last was a work of his retirement and resulted in the publication of a two-volume study by the University of Virginia Press for the Eleutherian Mills-Hagley Foundation. Volume One, WATERPOWER IN THE CENTURY OF THE STEAM ENGINE, was published in 1979, and Volume Two, STEAM POWER, was published posthumously in 1985. A third volume on power transmission has since been completed from Hunter's notes and published by MIT Press.

From the description of Research notes on industrial power, ca. 1970-1978. (Hagley Museum & Library). WorldCat record id: 122516451
