Biographical notes:

The Kansas Library Association (KLA) was founded by Anna LaPorte Diggs, when she invited Kansas citizens together to discuss library matters. On 17 May 1900 this group called for an organizational meeting for a state library association, which was held in December of that same year, thereby creating the KLA. The KLA advocates on the behalf of libraries, provides professional development opportunities for Kansas librarians often in conjunction with other local and regional associations and organizations, and has numerous sections and roundtables devoted to specific areas of interest and concern for different types of librarians, such as concerning academic libraries, children's libraries, interlibrary loans, or government documents.
