Biographical notes:
Member of the naval expedition to South America, the South Pacific and Antarctica, headed by Charles Wilkes, 1838-1842; died in Florida during the Civil War, while in command of the screw steamer Penguin. His father, Charles A. Budd, commanded the sloop Preble during the Battle of Plattsburgh, 11 Sept. 1814.
