Biographical Note: John Holladay Latané came to Hopkins as professor of American Diplomatic History in 1913. He remained a member of the history department until his death in 1932.
Latane's contemporaries characterized him as an outspoken idealist. He supported the League of Nations, the Kellog-Briand Pact and opposed Prohibition. His non-isolationist, international views are reflected in his teachings, writings and lecures.
