Biographical notes:

In 1929, the department was organized as the Brigham Young University Department of Religious Education. Through the years the department has also been called the Division of Religion, College of Religious Instruction, Department of Religious Instruction, and was changed to the Department of Religious Education in 1983. The mission of Religious Education at Brigham Young University is to build the Kingdom of God by teaching and preserving the doctrine of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As of 2009 the Dean of Religious Education is Terry B. Ball.
