Biographical notes:
Born in South Carolina, William Moses Samuel "Red" Myers moved to Indianapolis as a child. Over the course of his life, Myers held a number of jobs, including service in the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Indiana State Guard, and the Indianapolis Fire Department. He later worked for Indiana National Bank and as a realtor. Myers was a member of numerous professional and civic organizations, received many awards for his service, and was the first African American president of the Optimist Club of Indianapolis.
