Lawyer and state legislator, of Long Branch, New Jersey; graduated from the College of New Jersey in 1882 and from Columbia Law School in 1885; admitted to the bar as an attorney in 1885 and as a counselor in 1890; served in the New Jersey Senate, 1893; participated actively in local and state Democratic Party politics; served as an officer of several Monmouth County, New Jersey, corporations, including two banks.
