Biographical notes:

Born in 1873 in Iowa, daughter of Thomas and Ragnhild (Rødningen) Raaen, Norwegian immigrants. Family moved to Steele County, N.D. homesteaded near Hatton in 1874. She graduated in 1903 from Mayville Normal School and in 1913 from University of Minnesota. Taught school in rural schools and Oak Grove School, Fargo, N.D. Served as Steele County Superintendent of Schools from 1917-1922. Later employed by Honolulu Teachers College, Hawaii. Author of several books and a series of historical articles for N.D. newspapers. Died at Fergus Falls, Minn. in 1957. Buried at Hatton, N.D.
