Biographical notes:
Military leader and newspaperman; born in Texas; served in the Texas Rangers and rose to the rank of colonel; moved to New York City in 1892; co-founded, with his brother George G. Feigl, the newspaper Tammany Times (later the Political Review) published at New York City; worked for other New York City newpapers; died in 1933 at age 66. Feigl's son Jefferson was the first American artillery officer killed in World War I and the only American killed on the first day of a massive German offensive in March 1918.
