Maurice Mandelbaum was a professor of philosophy at The Johns Hopkins University.
He received his B.A. from Dartmouth College, and his M.A. and Ph. D. from Yale University.
He came to Hopkins in 1957. In 1967 he was named the first Andrew Mellon professor of philosophy. His area of specialization was the history of 19th century thought.
