Greenman, Alfred A., 1868-1939.

Dates:
Birth 1868
Death 1939

Biographical notes:

In 1911 he opened a branch at 1134 13th St. on the Hill, which was operated by his brother, Ernest. Ernest worked at that store as manager until 1945, when, after Alfred's death, the store was sold to Eb Smith. Ernest continued to work there, operating a check cashing service for University of Colorado students, until his retirement in 1955. He died 4 March 1960.

Alfred A. Greenman came to Boulder in 1890. While a student at the University in 1892, he began working for the Whitney and Blake company. In 1896, he became a part owner with Marc Maxwell and the store was renamed Maxwell and Greenman Book and Drug Store. In 1902 he bought out his partner and the store became Greenman's University Store, although it was located at 1219 Pearl Street.
