Ben Williams razed his blacksmith and carriage business to erect this building. The street and number were changed from 2029 12th Street to 2031 Broadway Street.

The Willard Building was named for Frances E. Willard, who was not a Boulder resident. Willard was national president of the Women's Christian Temperance Union for 19 years.
