Biographical notes:
James F. Breakey was born January 28, 1900 in Arbor, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1921 with a B.A. and from the U-M Law School in 1929. He practiced law in Ypsilanti, Michigan, then in 1945, he was appointed Washtenaw County circuit court judge to fill out the term of George W. Sample. He was elected in his own right in 1946. He served nearly twenty-four years until his death April 16, 1969.
