Whittle, Conway, 1800-1881.
Biographical notes:
Conway Whittle attended Dublin University and the College of William and Mary. He was a Norfolk lawyer who served for a time as collector of customs. He was also a director in the Dismal Swamp Canal Company. His sisters Mary Eliza Whittle Neale and Frances Munford Whittle Lewis married naval officers Benjamin F. Neale and William Lewis. The officers died when their ship, sent by Stephen Decatur, to bring back the treaty he had negotiated with the Dey of Algiers went down in the Atlantic.
