Missionary; born Sarah Margaret Bell (commonly called "Sally") on January 6, 1939 in Carlisle, England; emigrated with family to the US in 1952; converted at Billy Graham's 1955 crusade in Toronto; attended Buffalo Bible Institute, 1956-1960; worked for Christian Service Brigade as a secretary, 1961-1964; served in Quito, Ecuador with missionary radio station HCJB, 1964-1976; returned to the US for medical reasons, 1976; a stroke in 1980 deprived her of memory, speech, and movement in her right side; through therapy and over time, all were recovered; returned to Quito in January 1983.
