Biographical notes:

Robert Gordon is library director and professor of education at Siena Heights University. Between 1980 and 1983 he interviewed and photographed 50 Detroit area immigrants who came to the United States prior to the outbreak of World War I in August 1914. The interviews and photos were presented as an exhibition entitled "So I Come to America."
