Biographical notes:

Summerfield G. Roberts, resident of Terrell and Dallas, Texas, was an independent oilman, businessman, fifth-generation Texan, naval officer (1917-1919), alumnus of the University of Texas and Harvard University, and philanthropist.

He was president of Strebor Oil Co. (1934-1969), Hanover Oil Corp. (1932-1969), Caribou Oil Co., and Pyramid Oil Co.; vice-president of Dalclark Oil Corp.; and stockholder in other oil ventures; member and officer of many civic, philanthropic, and patriotic organizations. His estate endowed Summerfield G. Roberts Foundation and Summerlee Foundation to support Texas history, animal rights, and Indian schools.
