Philip Appleman, born February 8, 1926, is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus with the Department of English at Indiana University, where he began teaching in 1955. His publications include several novels, collections of poetry, and numerous nonfiction works. Appleman' works often reflect his expert knowledge of Charles Darwin's theories.
