International Union, United Automobile, Aircraft, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America. Local 932 (Minneapolis, Minn.)
Biographical notes:
Local 932, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, services the Minneapolis-Moline Division of Motec Industries Inc., previously known as the Minneapolis-Moline Power Implement Company. In 1937, Local 1146 disassociated itself with the International Association of Machinists and contracted with United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America, an affiliate of the CIO. In 1949-1950, the U.E. was expelled from the CIO.
Subsequently, a period of intense rivalry existed between the U.E. and the UAW as to which union would service Local 1146. The U.E. serviced the local until 1955 when the UAW chartered Local 1146. In 1961, after NLRB elections, the UAW was elected and the name of the local was changed to Local 932, UAW.
From the description of UAW Local 932 records, 1937-1964, (bulk 1940-1961). (Wayne State University, Archives of Labor & Urban). WorldCat record id: 32321503
