Biographical notes:
Prof. Walter S. Ryder (1892-1956) taught history and social science at Central Michigan University (CMU), 1942-1956. Prof. Claude S. Larzelere (1866-1946) taught Michigan history and government at CMU, 1901-1939. A CMU dormitory is named in Prof. Larzelere's honor. Papers and publications of both men are in the Clarke Historical Library.
