Biographical notes:

The Joseph Bancroft & Sons Company and its unincorporated predecessors operated a cotton textile mill at Rockford, now within the city limits of Wilmington, Del., from 1831. It became a division of Indian Head Mills, Inc., in 1961 and closed in 1981.
