Planter, merchant, and soldier, of Rock Hill, S.C.; member, S.C. House, 1880-1882; wounded at 1st Bull Run, Manassas, Va., 1861; son of Col. Cadwallader Jones (1813-1899) and Annie Isabella Jones; grandson of N.C. Gov. James Iredell; brother of Cadwallader Jones, Jr., and Allen Jones (b.1846); husband of Ellen Tree Jones (d.1873) and Laura E. Jones (d. 1887); father, of Lillian Jones Butler, Iredell Jones, Jr., and Chafee Jones.
