Lieber Professor of Political Philosophy and Sociology at Columbia University.

MacIver was author of numerous works on sociology, political power, and juvenile delinquency. After he retired from Columbia in 1950, he served on the City of New York Juvenile Delinquency Evaluation Project and as President and Chancellor of the New School for Social Research.
