American botanist. Educated at Harvard University (A.M., 1894, Ph.D. 1895). Studied under William Farlow at the Cryptogamic Laboratories, Harvard, 1892-1893. Taught natural history at Middlebury College, 1895-1913 and at Washington University from 1913. Published Icones Farlowianae: Illustrations of the Larger Fungi of Eastern North America (Cambridge, 1929) together with William G. Farlow.

Edward Angus Burt (1859-1939) was a mycologist whose specialty was the Thelephoraceae family. He was Professor of Natural History at Middlebury College (Vermont) from 1895 to 1913. He then went to the Missouri Botanical Garden as Mycologist and Librarian from 1913 to 1933.
