American mycologist. Educated at Illinois University (M.S. 1886). Assisted William Farlow with Harvard Mycological Indexes, 1883-1885, and appointed permanently to staff of the Farlow Cryptogamic Herbarium in 1886, where he worked on the Indexes until his death.
