John Marshall (1936- ) is a jeweler and metalsmith from Edmonds, Wash. Lloyd Herman (1936- ) is the former director of the Smithsonian Institution's Renwick Gallery from Seattle, Wash.

Metalsmith, educator; Edmonds, Wash.; b. 1936, Pittsburg, Pa.

He studied silversmithing and design with John Paul Miller and Fred Miller at the Cleveland Institute of Art (BFA, 1965) and received his MFA from the School of Art at Syracuse University (1967). In 1965 he began teaching at Syracuse University, and between 1970 and 2001, he taught at the University of Washington in Seattle. Marshall also was a founding member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG).
