Biographical notes:

David Wurfel received a B.A. degree from San Diego State College. In 1960 he received a Ph.D. in Government at Cornell University. He was Professor of Political Science at the University of Windsor, 1969-1993, after teaching at the Universities of Michigan, Missouri, and Singapore. In 1995 he completed a two-year appointment as Professor of International Relations at the International Christian Academy at the Joint Centre for Asia Pacific Studies, Toronto. He is the author of FILIPINO POLITICS: DEVELOPMENT AND DECAY (1988) and has contributed to, among others, GOVERNMENTS AND POLITICS IN SOUTHEAST ASIA (1959), SOUTHEAST ASIA: PROBLEMS OF U.S. POLICY (1963), THE U.S. AND THE PHILIPPINES (1966), GOVERNMENT AND REBELLIONS IN SOUTHEAST ASIA (1985), REINVENTING SOCIALISM IN VIETNAM (1993), and authored numerous journal articles on Asian politics and international affairs. He co-edited with Bruce Burton THE POLITICAL ECONOMY OF FOREIGN POLICY IN SOUTHEAST ASIA (1990).
