Northern Pacific and Manitoba Railway Company.
Biographical notes:
In 1888, the company was chartered by the province of Manitoba, Canada, to build and develop branch lines in the province. It bought out the stock of the Red River Valley Railway and took over five dormant charters, while also constructing a total of 301 miles of line, including terminal and hotel properties in Winnipeg. It also operated three other lines throughout the southern province. Its capital stock was acquired by NP in 1891, although it continued to operate under its own name. In 1901, it became part of the Manitoba Railway Company.
