Minnesota Coalition of Organizations for Sex Equity in Education.

Biographical notes:

The idea for the organization was developed by the Minnesota Division of the Women's Equity Action League in response to the settlement of a complaint brought against thirty-one Minnesota school districts regarding sex equity in personnel practices, and to monitor school districts' compliance with the Title IX law, which outlawed discrimination against girls in educational programs or activities receiving federal funding. By 1981 there were eighteen member organizations, including the American Association of University Women, the League of Women Voters of Minnesota, the Minnesota Civil Liberties Union, the Minnesota Congress of Parents, Teachers and Students, the Minnesota DFL Feminist Caucus, the Minnesota GOP Feminist Caucus, and Minnesota Women for Education Equality.
