Lucien Bonaparte was a younger Brother of Napoleon I. He was president of the French Council of Five Hundred, arranged for Napoleon's election as First Consul, served as Napoleon's Minister of the Interior and later as ambassador to Spain (court of Charles IV). He was made Prince of Canino (in 1814) and Musignano (in 1824) and was made a member of the Académie française in 1803.
