Many diverse organizations report to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Business, providing infrastructure services essential to supporting the students, faculty and staff of NC State University. The Real Estate Office reports to the Office of the Treasurer within the Office of Finance and Business, and oversees the purchasing, maintenance, and selling of the university's real property.
The Chinqua-Penn Plantation House, located near Reidsville in Rockingham County, was a gift to the North Carolina State University System in 1959. In 1986, the care and mainentance was transferred to North Carolina State University. The Office of Finance and Business's Real Estate Office oversaw the management, appraisal, lease agreements, and eventual marketing and sale of the property in 2006.
