Oregon. Committee on Natural Resources
Biographical notes:
The Committee on Natural Resources was formed by Governor Douglas McKay in 1949 as the Governor's Advisory Committee on Natural Resources. The Committee was charged with coordinating state natural resource policy. The Committee brought together administrators of natural resource agencies. These included the Fish Commission, the Game Commission, the State Engineer, and the State Land Board.
In 1951, the Committee was given a statutory basis by the Legislature. The Committee was supposed to study natural resource conservation and development problems in Oregon, submit findings and recommendations, and prepare a biennial report. The Governor was responsible for appointing an executive secretary to coordinate the affairs of the Committee. The Committee was abolished in 1969.
